Welcome to "A Fleeting Thought" where I post relatively short and to the point book reviews.

(Book summary at bottom of the post)

I received this ebook from Hambright PR. My first time ever being sought out for my opinion, how awesome?!

My honest review:

I loved this book! I've never really sought out legal thrillers so I didn't know what to expect, but this book was fast paced, twisty, and fun. I read this book on my phone and finished it in less than a day. If you know me, you know I hate reading anything other than a physical copy. I'm especially biased toward paperbacks. So me devouring it as quickly as I did says something!

The FMC is strong and witty and I liked that a lot. I'm tired of reading about damsels in distress.

The author did a great job of making me feel like I was a part of the story. I had genuine anxiety while reading this because I was so invested in the characters. There were certain points I even had empathy for the bad guy and I had to check myself! Maybe I'm too empathetic, but I think that's just how convincing the story felt.

Why didn't I give this book five stars?

I have a very particular pet peeve where if an author uses the same adjective multiple times over, it drives me nuts, and I encountered that in this book.

I also had to suspend some belief in some places because it really didn't seem that likely. While it doesn't bother me in some books, reading a book that had such a real life feel to it, the parts that were less believable felt a bit out of place. That being said, it didn't take away from the book that much and I still really enjoyed reading it.

Book Summary:

Attorney Sasha McCandless has one goal: Make partner at the best firm in town. Then a plum assignment plunges her into a world of deceit and danger.

When a commercial flight crashes, killing everyone on board, she's tapped to defend the airline. It's her big chance ... high-stakes litigation for an important client. But, as she digs into the evidence, people close to the case start dying.

She discovers the crash was intentional, caused by a smartphone app capable of overriding the cockpit controls. But she's not sure who she can trust with the horrifying truth. She teams up with a federal air marshal, and they race to prevent another airline disaster.

Soon, Sasha finds herself with a brand-new life goal: Stop a madman before he kills her.
